JOSH APPELBAUM
PARTNER / EXECUTIVE PRODUCER / WRITER
New York native Josh Appelbaum graduated from the University of Southern California where he studied creative writing. Appelbaum & Nemec’s early credits include EARLY EDITION for CBS, GOING TO CALIFORNIA for Showtime, and FASTLANE for Fox. The pair then spent three years writing for ALIAS where they rose to the level of co-executive producer. They then went on to co-create and executive produce OCTOBER ROAD, LIFE ON MARS, and HAPPY TOWN for ABC.
In 2010, they wrote MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL, the fourth installment in the multi-billion dollar franchise starring Tom Cruise. This was the pair’s first produced feature film. Building on the success of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL, the pair was then tapped to write the latest installments of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Beverly Hills Cop franchises. 2015 saw the pair executive producing PROJECT ALMANAC, and serving as writers and executive producers of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel. In 2021, Amazon released their latest film, WITHOUT REMORSE, based on the hit Tom Clancey novel, starring Michael B. Jordan. They are currently writing HEADS OF STATE starring John Cena and Idris Elba for Amazon.
Appelbaum & Nemec also remain active in television where they write and produce under their Midnight Radio banner. Previous projects include ZOO, an adaptation of the James Patterson’s novel, for CBS, EVERYTHING SUCKS! for Netflix, HIGH FIDELITY, starring Zoë Kravitz for Hulu, COWBOY BEBOP, starring John Cho and based on the iconic anime series, for Netflix; and FROM for MGM and Epix. Upcoming projects include CITADEL, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas for Amazon.
